When the concept for Media Magnetism began to take shape, I wanted to attract the “best of the best” as chapter contributors. Over the course of the book’s development, nearly 600 experts from across the country pitched their ideas and submitted writing samples for consideration.

It was no easy task to select the “faculty” that would ultimately share their insider tips, expertise and anecdotes with Media Magnetism’s target demographic of small business owners, nonprofits, entrepreneurs, authors and artists. Once I did, however, it was not only the start of a dynamic book but also the beginning of new friendships and professional relationships.

Without further ado, here’s Who’s Who:

Jeff Maxwell is a 30-year veteran actor, comedian, writer, producer, best-selling author and former casting director for 20th Century Fox. With over a hundred TV shows and several films to his credit, Jeff is probably best known as an actor for his 9-year role as Private Igor on the CBS television mega-hit series M*A*S*H.Jeff’s show business career began when he and a high school pal formed a comedy team, Garrett & Maxwell. The team developed rapidly and went on to perform with such classic entertainers as The Smothers Brothers, Redd Foxx, Flip Wilson, Kenny Loggins and Robin Williams. After a very successful seven years of performing around the world, the two went their separate ways and Jeff became a studio executive in the casting department of 20th Century Fox. It wasn’t long, however, that his performing side took over, landing him an association with what was destined to become the most watched show in television history. For nine years, Jeff played the role of Private Igor the beleaguered mess tent cook on the iconic series, M*A*S*H.Acting in many other television shows and films, including the comedy-classic, The Kentucky Fried Movie, Jeff also wrote, produced and directed numerous corporate videos, including two award-winning drug-awareness programs for the Keebler Corporation: I BELIEVE IN MEand SISTERS. Along with being an accomplished screenwriter, he also created and produced a pilot for the CBS television network hosted by Georgia Holt and Jacqueline Stallone – the mothers of Cher and Sylvester. Some years after M*A*S*H ended production, Jeff returned to his M*A*S*H roots and wrote a best-selling cookbook, SECRETS OF THE M*A*S*H MESS: THE LOST RECIPES OF PRIVATE IGOR. Filled with delicious recipes, letters to Igor’s mom, and never-before-seen photo’s, the book was written to tell Jeff and Igor’s side of their M*A*S*H experience…and to make the case that Private Igor was actually a good cook.Though comfortable with the role of producing and writing, Jeff returned to acting in a film titled Divorce: The Musical in which he plays the co-owner of an infomercial company with big problems.Jeff recently wrapped up a year behind the microphone at KFWB 980 as co-host of Breaking In, a show devoted to giving tips about how to break into the entertainment business.Jeff also created and produces an educational DVD product titled Careers. Michael Wong is an American born photographer who studied photography at Art Center College of Design. His Southern California upbringing not only gave him an appreciation for the great outdoors but also fueled  his enthusiasm for the modern music scene. His photo shoots of musicians and bands in Hollywood and New York led to record covers for Blue Note artists and Aretha Franklin and, during the 1990’s Alternative phase of music, his lens and creative vision were put to good use  in photographing bands like New Order, Oasis, Pavement, Yoko Ono and Blondie. The move to Manhattan was an easy step for Michael to take and the Lower East Side soon became home. The NYC address also put him on the scene to photograph skateboarders and basketball, the latter opening doors to commercial contracts with Nike, Adidas and Converse.  His interest in culture has captured musicians, youth culture and athletes around the world. His new interest is shooting video and he has done video work for Footlocker, Beretta, Acapulcogoldny, ATR, and Rakim. He is married to graphic designer Nancy Mazzei.
